One of the few pictures I took in the park of wildlife without my trust 600mm set up. This was safely taken from the window of the car merely 10-15 feet from the group with my 18mm wide angle, which explains why they aren't as close looking as they were. I wish I would have been able to line up a better shot of the mini-buffalope on the right-hand side of the shot but I really didn't want to be a statistic.

It is a little not-so-well known fact that buffalo goring is the leading cause of death within the park for humans. The forest rangers are kind enough to hand you that information when you enter the park. I think there had already been 20 incidents by the time we got there in August... none of the fatal. So I stayed in the car because I wasn't willing to be a trend-setter and be the first to die. Bev wasn't willing to get out to take the picture for me, either.
